From unique shower curtains and bath mats to custom twin, queen and king duvet covers. The most common doll bed covers material is cotton.

Did you scroll all this way to get facts about doll bed covers?

Experiment with different types of fabric and fillings until you find what you like the most. Allow your child to participate in the sewing and teach her how to sew one of the ends. Sew the end with the same stitch work as you did on the rest of the pillow.Be careful not to overstuff because you still need to close the other end.

You should have an opening at the end for your filling. Turn the pillow fabric right side out and trim away any excess thread or fabric. A smaller seam or ½ inch will do the trick. Sew around the bottom and the two sides of the pillow. Line the edges up carefully so you don’t have a crooked pillow.

Turn the fabric outward with the back facing out. Depending on how large you want to make the pillow, shoot for measurements around 2 x 3. Trim hanging thread after you’ve finished to create a seamless look. Don’t overfill but just add a thin layer to give the comforter some thickness. Add batting or stuffing through the top opening of the blanket. Turn the fabric right side out so that the pattern is facing outward. Sew the two sides and bottom but leave the top open. Sew around the edges, approximately ½ inch in to create a seam. If the fabric is the same pattern on both sides don’t worry about this step. Turn fabric so that the back of the fabric is facing outward (on both sides). However, if you are hand sewing, make sure you have an appropriate needle and also a good pair of sharp sewing scissors (for both hand and machine sewing). If you plan to use your sewing machine you may just need thread in a matching color. Buy a few bags of cotton and sewing supplies. Of course if you were making a comforter for a human being you’d need to purchase thick batting. Barbie’s bed is 8 x 10, so make sure you have enough for a 9 x 11 (or more). Pick up enough fabric to make the doll bed and pillow(s). This is where your child can get very creative and go for some wilder patterns. Be sure you involve your child throughout the entire process, teaching her about sewing and how to approach project management.

I can think of that might make them pucker. Did you remember to clip the extra fabric in the corners?

They may pucker a little depending on the size of your foam and such.

I will be making a mattress in the near future.

I don’t mind hand sewing but the machine is so much faster.

I especially liked the part about how to make the box corners.

Doll Bed Cover

What do you think of the easy doll bedding pattern closure?

You can sew with your kids or you can sew it for them. In the meantime, you can whip up a doll bed mattress easy peasy.

I should be able to show you the reversible sheets we are going to add to the doll bedding. Both of my girls really thought about the paint for the bed as well as matching the bedding to the paint. These doll bed mattresses are just adorable.

You could add a few buttons to help hold the mattress in place.

I also didn't add any buttons to the mattress this time. Sew the opening closed remembering to backstitch both at the beginning and end. To get a really narrow seam, if your machine has the ability to move the needle position, move the needle position to the right. In order to do it that way, you will need to pin the opening closed.

Doll Bed Covers

I decided that the mattresses were going to be closed on the machine.

You will need to wiggle and work the foam into the corners. Turn your fabric right side out and place the foam mattress inside. Sew on that line making sure to backstitch both at the beginning and end. This will give you your box corners for the thickness of the mattress. Before you turn the mattress casing right side out, pull each corner to a point and pin. Sew with a 1/2″ seam leaving an opening at the top or bottom of the mattress. Place the two right sides (or patterned sides) of your fabric together and pin. Now you need to sew your mattress casing. The portion for the mattress measures 12″ x 19″. This pattern can be adapted for any size doll bed.

I also realized it would make the mattresses even easier to make. Fairfield offered to sponsor this post and sent me a couple of products with which to make the doll mattress.

I put off pulling out the sewing machine and making things like this.

I was just kind of dreading the doll bedding pattern.
